MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN WORKPLACE ACCIDENT

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On Tuesday September 19, 2017 at approximately 1:15 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious workplace injury at Glengarry Crescent, Fergus. Initial reports indicated that a 25-year-old male had sustained serious trauma to his legs when a bus he was servicing fell on him.

OPP as well as Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Services attended and treated the patient. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and then airlifted to a trauma centre.

The Ministry of Labour (MOL) is investigating.

BREAK AND ENTER AT RESIDENCE, SUSPECTS CAUGHT

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) - On Friday September 15, 2017 The County of Wellington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a Break and Enter at a residence on Sideroad 17, Erin. At approximately 1:00 a.m. suspects wearing disguises were observed scaling a fence on security cameras.

OPP officers, Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team responded and located one male. Further investigations identified a second suspect.

19-year-old Tristan Skylar BENFORD of Halton Hills and 18-year-old John Williams of Erin were arrested and charged for Break and Enter and Disguise with Intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. They are scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on October 24, 2017.

STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE FOUND IN FLAMES

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On Sunday September 17, 2017 at approximately 8:00 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with The Centre Wellington Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle fire on Sideroad 9, Belwood. It was reported that an SUV was off highway on fire.

The vehicle, a stolen blue 2014 Chevrolet Traverse from Guelph, was destroyed in the blaze.

OPP, Guelph Police Service and Centre Wellington Fire Rescue are currently investigating.

PATROLS TO INCREASE AT LOCAL DOG PARK

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has been advised of an ongoing issue at the leash free dog park at 930 Glengarry Crescent in Fergus.

Complainants are advising of locating potentially biohazardous materials being carelessly discarded by humans in the parking areas of the park.

The OPP will be increasing their patrols of this area in the evening hours to promote community safety. Anyone who observes suspicious or unwanted activity in the area is encouraged to call police with information.
