ASSISTANCE FROM PUBLIC LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On April 15, 2017 at approximately 7:00 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a possible drunk driver. It was reported that a vehicle was all over the road with irregular speeds. The OPP located and stopped the driver of a white Volkswagen on Tower Street South, Fergus.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the belief that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

59-year-old David STANLEY of Cambridge has been charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood as well as Driving while Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on May 19, 2017.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, you can call police at 911 to report it.

BREAK AND ENTER TO HOME IN ELORA

(TOWN OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County detachment investigated a Break and Enter at an address on Wellington Drive, in the Village of Elora.

On April 10, 2017 at approximately 10:00 a.m. police received a call that the rear door of the residence had been forced open.

Suspect(s) appeared to have entered the residence sometime overnight and rummaged through the home. Police are still gathering information on any property that was stolen.

MISCHIEF TO ERIN CATHOLIC SCHOOL

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) - On April 10, 2017, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a mischief to St. John Brebeuf Catholic School on Millwood Road in the Village of Erin.

Suspect(s) climbed to the roof and damaged the Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) unit by smashing gas lines and pulling off air lines. The vandalism occurred over the weekend of April 7 to 10, 2017. Damages are estimated to be around $1000.

SUSPENDED DRIVER CHARGED

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On Thursday April 13, 2017 at approximately 8:30 a.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a blue Toyota Solara on South River Road, between Fergus and Elora.

Investigations revealed that the driver of the vehicle was suspended for unpaid fines.

34-year-old Andrew Joseph HUBBARD of Elmira has been charged with Driving While Suspended contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on May 17, 2017 to answer to the charge.

Drivers are reminded that on a first conviction of driving while your licence is suspended may result in a fine from $1,000 to $5,000. Subsequent convictions fines start at $2,000 and a driver may also be liable to imprisonment of up to 6 months.
