Female Arrested After Calling Police

On the afternoon of February 14th, 2020, members of the Guelph Police Service attended to a bank in the downtown core of the City of Guelph at the request of an adult female patron. Officers then began speaking with the female who did not remember calling police. It was police observation that the female had been drinking alcohol.

While speaking with police, the female announced that she had to use the washroom, pulled down her pants and began squatting in the lobby of the bank. Police ordered her to stop, at which point she stood up, pulled up her pants and punched an officer in the chin. While arresting the female, she then kicked the same officer in the leg twice.

After being put in the back of a police cruiser, the female began kicking at the rear window causing damage to the brake light.

A 19 year old Guelph female has been charged with:

         Assault Police

         Mischief Under $5,000

She will appear in court on March 3rd.

Cyclist Airlifted To Hamilton After Collision

On February 14th, 2020, at 8:45pm, a 42 year old Guelph female was cycling westbound on Speedvale Avenue East, west of Stevenson Street North in the City of Guelph. The female was struck from behind by a vehicle also travelling westbound on Speedvale Avenue East, and was thrown a distance. The vehicle remained at the scene and investigation revealed it was driven by a 34 year old Milton male.

The female was transported to the Guelph General Hospital for treatment. Preliminary assessment revealed that she had suffered a broken pelvis and head injury. She was then transferred to a hospital in Hamilton via air ambulance.

Please note that the cyclist is in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.

Public Tip Leads To Impaired Driving Arrest

On February 16th, 2020, at 12:53am, a member of the public notified the Guelph Police Service of a possible impaired adult male driver leaving a licenced establishment in the south end of the City of Guelph.

At 1:02am, police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop out front of a residence located near the intersection of Inverness Drive and Woodlawn Road East.

At 1:04am, after speaking with the male, he was arrested.

A 55 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

         Operation While Impaired Alcohol

         Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Content

He will appear in court on March 3rd.

Female Arrested After Stealing Tip Jar

On February 11th, 2020, at 7:04pm, an adult female was observed stealing a tip jar containing approximately $35 from a restaurant located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph.

On February 17th, at 10:09am, the female was found at a residence located near the intersection of Victoria Road North and Woodlawn Road East. She was subsequently arrested.

A 24 year old Guelph female has been charged with:

         Theft Under $5,000

         Breach Of Probation

 She was held in custody pending a bail hearing on February 18th.

Male Arrested After Assault With Guitar

On February 16th, 2020, at 4:20pm, members of the Guelph Police Service were dispatched to a residence located near the intersection of Paisley Road and Silvercreek Parkway North in the City of Guelph in regards to two adult male housemates fighting. Investigation revealed that an argument between the males escalated and became physical with a 58 year old male being struck in the head with a guitar. The other male was subsequently arrested.

A 42 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

         Assault With A Weapon

         Breach Probation

He will appear in court on February 18th.

Please note that the male victim did not require medical attention.

Female Facing Numerous Charges After Arrest

On February 16th, 2020, at 8:17am, police observed a taxi attend to a residential complex located near the intersection of Silvercreek Parkway North and Paisley Road in the City of Guelph. Police recognized the adult female in the rear of the taxi as being wanted in regards to a previous incident for the charges of:

         Possession Of Stolen Property Obtained By Crime

         Unauthorized Use Of Credit Card

At 8:20am, the female was arrested.

A search incident to arrest revealed a small quantity of crystal methamphetamine, a small quantity of crack cocaine, and multiple cheque books and banks not in her name.

A 24 year old Guelph female has been further charged with:

         Possession Of A Controlled Substance x2

         Possession Of Stolen Property Under $5,000

She will appear in court on April 3rd.
