Thank You Const. MacArthur & Police Service Dog General

Web posted on February 15, 2020

Constable Greg MacArthur and his partner, Police Service Dog General, will both be finishing their careers with the Guelph Police Service on February 17th, 2020.

Constable MacArthur joined the Guelph Police Service on September 2nd, 2008, and began his career working as a frontline uniform patrol officer.

In 2012, PSD General was imported from Germany specifically for police work and partnered with Constable MacArthur. The pair formed an immediate bond and together they learned the skills required to excel as a K9 Team. Over the past eight years, they have assisted in the arrest of countless suspects. In 2016, this team was recognized nationally as "Utility Team of the Year" by the National Association of Professional Canine Handlers.

On February 17th, PSD General will officially retire from policing. He will enjoy his retirement while living with Constable MacArthur and his family. The Guelph Police Service and Constable MacArthur would like to thank Michael McKay from MDM Insurance Services Inc, Royal Canin Canada and the University of Guelph Ontario Veterinarian College for their support and care of PSD General.

As well, Constable MacArthur will be leaving the Guelph Police Service on February 17th. He will be continuing his policing career with the Woodstock Police Service.

The Guelph Police Service would like to thank and recognize both Constable Greg MacArthur and Police Service Dog General for their excellent service to the citizens of the City of Guelph. They have done extraordinary work over their careers and were an absolute asset to both the Guelph Police Service and overall community. We are positive that Constable MacArthur will flourish in his new role with the Woodstock Police Service.

Good luck Greg and enjoy your retirement General! You will be missed!
