Child Pornography Arrest

On February 13th, 2020, members of the Guelph Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit along with other Guelph Police Service members attended a residence located in the west end of the City of Guelph to execute a Search Warrant.  During the Search Warrant, evidence was located and an adult male was arrested.

An 18 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

         Possession of Child Pornography

         Distribution of Child Pornography

         Accessing Child Pornography

He will appear in court on March 27th.

Male Arrested For Downtown Assault

On February 14th, 2020, at 12:40am, members of the Guelph Police Service were dispatched to a night club located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph in regards to a fight between two adult males.

A 19 year old Mississauga male was found to be suffering from an injury to his mouth, and was now missing his two front teeth. He was transported to the Guelph General Hospital for treatment.

The other male was subsequently arrested.

A 28 year old Brampton male has been charged with:

         Assault Cause Bodily Harm

         Failure To Comply With Order

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on February 14th.

 

Male Arrested For Break In

On February 13th, 2020, at 11:24pm, members of the Guelph Police Service were dispatched to the area of fenced construction site located near the downtown core of the City of Guelph in regards to a break in.

Further investigation lead police to a nearby residence where an adult male was located with a stolen roll of electrical cable. He was subsequently arrested.

A 38 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

         Break And Enter Commit Theft

         Possession Of Stolen Property

         Fail To Comply Judicial Release Order x2

         Breach Probation Order x3

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on February 14th.

 
Male Exposes Himself To Traffic

On February 13th, 2020, at 1pm, an adult female was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Silvercreek Parkway North in the City of Guelph. She then observed a male standing on the corner of the intersection with his pants lowered partially down his thighs, low enough for just his groin area to be visible. He was seen holding his genitals, exposing himself to traffic.

Police attended the area but were unable to locate the male.

The male is described as:

         Caucasian

         5'7-5'9

         Shoulder length red dreadlocks

         Wearing a black toque and dark jacket

Arrested After Downtown Incident

Early on the morning of December 20th, 2019, an adult male was observed in an apartment building located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph prying open doors on each floor of the building. One of the key pads appeared to be stabbed with a sharp object. Approximate damage to the building was $8,000.

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On February 13th, 2020, at 10:55am, police located the male in the main stairwell of the same apartment building. He was subsequently arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed 0.03 grams of Fentanyl ($10 value) in his pocket.

A 33 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

         Forcible Entry

         Mischief Over $5,000

         Possession Schedule I

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on February 14th.

 

Female Arrested For Shoplifting

On February 11th, 2020, at 8:30pm, an adult female was observed shoplifting $63.87 worth of merchandise from a business located in the Stone Road Mall of the City of Guelph.

On February 13th, at 9:59am, police located the female in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. She was subsequently arrested.

A 26 year old Guelph female has been charged with:

         Theft Under $5,000

         Breach Of Probation x2

She will appear in court on March 27th.

Drug Arrest

The Guelph Police Drug Enforcement Unit, conducted an investigation into an alleged drug trafficker in the downtown area of Guelph.  On February 12, 2020 the Drug Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant with the assistance of the Tactical Response Unit and the High Enforcement Action Team.   

A quantity of cocaine was seized as well as paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking. A 59 year old Guelph female was charged with Possession for the purpose of trafficking and a 45 year old Guelph male has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Weapons Incident Leads to Arrest

On Wednesday February 12, 2020 at approximately 6:06am Guelph Police attended to a private residence on the east side of the city in regards to an ongoing incident. As a result of the incident, a 24 year old male was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The male was then transferred to a Regional Trauma Centre where he underwent surgery. He is presently in stable condition.

A 20 year old male was located shortly after the incident and arrested for aggravated assault. After the initial investigation into the incident, he has been further charged with attempt murder and weapons dangerous.

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on February 14th.

Arrested on Warrant 

On February 12th, 2020, Police made contact with a wanted party at an address on Watt Street in the city of Guelph. The accused was currently wanted on a first instance warrant held by the Guelph Police Service for Breach of Release order from January 29, 2020. At 3:544pm, the 18 year old Guelph male was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant and further held for a bail hearing.

On February 12th, 2020, a 32 year old Guelph female was arrested on the strength of several outstanding warrants with regard to the following charges; Theft Under X4, Fail to Attend, Escape Lawful Custody X2 and Breach Probation X4. She was further held for a bail hearing.

Careless Driving

On February 11th, 2020, at approximately 3:51pm, Police attended to a collision involving two motor vehicles at the corner Edinburgh Road South and Chancellors Way in the city of Guelph. As a result of the incident, a 27 year old male was charged with Careless Driving and transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Arrested on Warrant

On February 11th, 2020, Police came into contact with a 37 year old Guelph male in the downtown core. The male was wanted on a 1st instance warrant for the outstanding charges of two counts of Breach Probation. Subsequently, the accused was arrested on the strength of the warrant. He was released at the scene and issued an Appearance Notice with a court date of April 3rd, 2020.  

Almost $800 Worth Of Fragrances Shoplifted

On February 6th, 2020, at 2:48pm, $791 worth of fragrances were shoplifted from a store located in the Stone Road Mall in the City of Guelph. The type of fragrance sets taken are described as Gucci X19, Versace, Invictus and Givenchy Gent.

The Guelph Police Service would like to speak with the male in the attached pictures in relation to the theft.

 Youth Arrested For Assault

On February 10th, 2020, at 3:30pm, a female student got in between a verbal argument between two male students in the hallway of a high school in the City of Guelph. Another female student then ran over, grabbed the female's hair and threw her head against the wall. She then continued the assault by punching her in the face multiple times. A teacher stepped in and separated the females.

The victim was transported to the Guelph General Hospital for treatment but did not sustain any serious injuries.

On February 11th, at 1:28am, a 17 year old Guelph female turned herself in to the Guelph Police Service station. She was subsequently arrested, and has been charged with Assault.

She will appear in court on March 18th.  

 
Gas Stolen

On February 10th, 2020, at 2am, a Caucasian adult male drove a White Acura MDX to a gas station located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Imperial Road North in the City of Guelph. He proceeded to pump $40.10 worth of gas, made no attempt to pay and drove away.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen out of Peel Region on January 31st.
